A fully integrated Sales and Dispatch Management System was rapidly built using the Devum™ low-code application platform, enabling real-time coordination of haul trucks, loading zones, weighbridges, and stockyards across a large state-owned mining operation. The system unified live fleet tracking, automated queue management, trip sequencing, TAT (Turnaround Time) monitoring, congestion alerts, and dispatch optimisation into a single operational interface. By replacing manual radio-based communication and fragmented spreadsheets, the operations team gained complete visibility over truck movement, bottlenecks, and material flow, significantly improving haulage productivity, safety, and throughput.
Engineered through Devum™’s Microservices-driven architecture, the solution streamlined the heavy lifting typically required to build a real-time sales and dispatch platform. Telemetry data from GPS devices, weighbridge systems, RFID readers, boom barriers and yard sensors were ingested through REST APIs and structured within the Devum™ Data Modeller, forming a centralised operational dataset. Devum™ Domain Services then helped apply business rules, execute logic such as queue optimisation, dwell-time checks, route assignment, and event-based anomaly detection to keep traffic flowing smoothly and reliably.
On the front end, operational dashboards and dispatch consoles were assembled visually in Devum™ App Studio using prebuilt components from the Library of Controls, including 2D Map, Polygon, Lists, Grids, Containers and many more along with Devum™ KPI Builder. Queue visualisations, truck-status boards, loading bay panels, and event histories were configured entirely through drag-and-drop without writing custom frontend code. With support for real-time event streaming and offline data capture at remote checkpoints, the solution delivered a resilient, scalable logistics environment – built faster, easier, and with far lower development effort than traditional bespoke systems.

CLIENT*
The client is one of India’s largest state-owned mining enterprises, operating multiple open-cast mines that produce iron ore, bauxite, chromite, and other critical minerals essential to the nation’s manufacturing and steel industries. With a vast geographic footprint and a fleet ecosystem that spans thousands of heavy-duty trucks, loaders, and auxiliary vehicles, the organisation manages continuous movement across mine pits, haul roads, stockyards, and dispatch zones. On an average day, hundreds of trips flow through loading points, weighbridges, and transport corridors, creating a highly dynamic environment where even small delays can cascade into major bottlenecks.
The sheer scale of material movement, combined with manual dispatching practices and fragmented monitoring systems, made real-time traffic coordination a persistent operational challenge. Known for its commitment to efficiency, safety, and sustainable mining, the enterprise has been actively adopting digital technologies to modernise its operations. Seeking a solution that could be implemented rapidly and adapted easily across multiple mine sites, the organisation chose Devum™ to build a unified sales and dispatch management system, one capable of handling high-volume data streams, automating decision-making, and improving overall throughput without the complexities of traditional software development.

The mine roads and loading zones frequently experienced heavy congestion due to the continuous movement of haul trucks, loaders, and contractor vehicles entering and exiting multiple pits and stockyards. With no unified visibility or automated controls, vehicles often converged at narrow intersections, weighbridge queues, and parking yards, leading to avoidable conflicts and delays. Manual radio-based coordination made it difficult for supervisors to reroute trucks during peak load conditions or react to sudden blockages. Traffic flow was inconsistent across shifts, and drivers had no real-time guidance on which routes or bays were open. These inefficiencies resulted in long dwell times, irregular trip cycles, and unpredictable turnaround times (TAT), directly affecting the mine’s daily production targets. The consequence was a highly reactive environment where congestion became a recurring operational bottleneck, slowing material movement, increasing idle time, and reducing the effective utilisation of the fleet.
Using Devum’s low-code application platform, the operations team rapidly configured an Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) that digitalised and automated the end-to-end flow of vehicles across the mine, all built through drag-and-drop components from Devum™ App Studio. RFID and GPS data were integrated into Devum using the Devum Microservices Framework, allowing real-time vehicle identity, location, and direction of movement to be captured instantly. Through the Devum™ Data Modeller, entities such as Vehicles, Checkpoints, RFID Events, Routes, and Speed Zones were defined visually, creating a unified operational dataset accessible to all workflows and dashboards. Devum™ Workflow Builder was used to automate all traffic control logic. These visual workflows replaced manual decision-making and ensured every action followed a consistent rule set. With continuous telemetry streaming into Devum™, Domain Services applied rules to detect – speed violations, congestion thresholds, unexpected stoppages, and route blockages. Alerts were triggered automatically and displayed on supervisor dashboards, enabling rapid intervention without manual monitoring. After deployment, the ITMS dramatically reduced congestion and removed vehicle conflicts through automated, rule-driven movement control. Supervisors no longer had to manually coordinate vehicles or make reactive interventions.
Daily operations like drilling, blasting, hauling, and crushing were manually logged using paper forms or isolated apps, resulting in fragmented data, poor equipment utilisation, and minimal oversight.Across mine access roads and transit routes, drivers were required to manually interact with security personnel at gates, weighbridges, and checkpoint cabins. These interactions involved document exchange, manual verification, and physical sign-offs, forcing drivers to step out of vehicles in high-risk zones. With no automated access control or digital validation, queues built up at transaction points, unauthorised vehicles entered restricted areas, and incident response was often delayed due to limited communication infrastructure. This created persistent safety hazards and inconsistencies in compliance across shifts and locations.
Using Devum’s low-code development platform, the end client rapidly deployed RFID-enabled, zero-touch checkpoints that eliminated manual driver interactions. Through the Microservices Framework, RFID readers were connected to Devum™, and all events were structured in the Devum™ Data Modeller. The Devum™ Workflow Builder automated validation logic, verifying credentials such as driver license, approving or denying access, and updating signal statuses, without writing complex backend code. Supervisor dashboards were assembled in Devum™ App Studio using controls like 2D Map, Single Polygon, Single Marker, Route Details, Alerts, Lists, and Devum™ KPI Builder, giving real-time visibility of checkpoint events and geofenced movements. To further improve on-ground coordination, the team configured a Stockyard and Parking Management System using App Studio and Workflow Builder. This module optimised stockpile allocation, parking queue logic, and vehicle staggering at loading and waiting zones. Using HTML, Map and Chart controls from Devum™ App Studio, real-time map-based dashboards were built for the Centralised Command and Control Centre with KPI-driven reporting, using which they could monitor bay occupancy, queue length, and available parking slots. Automated workflows allocated stockpiles, guided trucks to designated parking areas, and prevented overcrowding at loading points. Devum™ Domain Services monitored for safety violations, restricted zone entries, and missed authentications, triggering alerts instantly. These automated, hands-free workflows significantly improved driver safety, streamlined parking and stockyard flow, enforced consistent access rules, and ensured safer vehicle movement, contributing to zero fatalities post-deployment and a substantial improvement in overall safety compliance.
Dispatch operations involved several manual checkpoints – vehicle entry, weighing, material validation, challan preparation, bay allocation, and exit processing – each handled separately by different personnel. This fragmented approach led to frequent human errors, inconsistent documentation, and long queues at weighbridges and stockyards. Supervisors had limited real-time visibility into where trucks were, which bays were occupied, or how long vehicles waited at each transaction point. As a result, dispatch decisions were reactive, turnaround times remained high, and throughput across the mine continuously suffered.
Using Devum’s low-code application platform, the end client deployed manless weighbridges and automated boom gates by integrating weighbridge sensors, RFID readers, and barrier systems through the Devum™ Microservices Framework. All weight readings, authentication events, and access signals were modelled in the Devum™ Data Modeller. The Devum™ Workflow Builder automated the entire weighing and gate cycle, validating vehicle identity, triggering boom-gate operations, updating trip status, and syncing weighment data, without human involvement. Dispatch supervisors gained real-time visibility through map-based dashboards built using Devum™ App Studio controls like 2D Map, Single Marker, Single Polygons, Grids, Lists, Containers, and Charts. These dashboards displayed truck locations, queue lengths, bay occupancy, and process bottlenecks, enabling proactive planning and quicker decisions. The team also developed Material Delivery Management and Sales and Production Management systems directly using Devum, automating delivery challan generation using Form Builder and integrating with ERP systems via the Microservices Framework and the Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System (i3MS) through REST APIs for accurate order fulfilment. All statutory data, including weighment details, delivery challans (e-permits), trip records, and material movement information, was automatically published to i3MS and SAP ERP. The workflows ensured real-time compliance by validating mandatory fields, matching mineral categories, and preventing dispatches without approved permits. This eliminated manual i3MS entry, reduced compliance risks, and ensured accurate, transparent reporting to regulatory authorities. Together, these Devum™ built modules delivered a completely digitalised, compliant, and automation-driven dispatch ecosystem, reducing turnaround times, strengthening operational visibility, and ensuring seamless regulatory integration through i3MS.
